Community Notice: Turnaround and Increased Flaring

We would like to inform you that the Turnaround process has begun, resulting in some increased flaring and noise. This is expected to continue for a few days as all units on site are being shut down.
The flaring is a process we use to prevent the release of gases directly into the atmosphere, excess gas is burned in a controlled and environmentally effective manner. A pilot light at the top of each flare burns continuously, ensuring the flare is available when needed. The gases are combined with steam and burned off to ensure maximum combustion and minimize emissions.
Occasionally, the use of steam may produce a rumbling sound, which is a normal part of the process and nothing to be concerned about. However, over the next few days to minimize noise at night, steam will not be used.

If you live locally and have not yet received a letter from EET Fuels about the Turnaround, it should arrive within the next week.  An online version of the letter can be found here.

Please rest assured that all of our work is conducted in a safe and controlled manner, and the site will continue to operate in compliance with our Environment Agency permit.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards,

The EET Fuels Team
