Essar is pleased to announce the further strengthening of its Executive Leadership Team with the appointment of Sunil Puri as the Company’s General Counsel with responsibility for Legal, Governance and Company Secretarial.
With over 19 years’ experience in the energy sector, Sunil began his career with BG Group plc before moving on to Tullow Oil plc where he worked in a variety of roles covering OECD and emerging markets. A qualified solicitor, he holds a Bachelor of Laws from London Metropolitan University and a Master of Laws from University College London.
Sunil was most recently an Associate General Counsel with Tullow Oil plc, where he was responsible for legal delivery and performance for the group’s global portfolio of upstream assets covering dispute resolution, governance, joint ventures, operations support for exploration and production, oil sales and marketing, project development and financing. His extensive experience includes managing large legal teams and external counsel in many countries, progressing company growth and commercial initiatives whilst ensuring governance requirements are adhered to.
Commenting on his appointment, Sunil Puri said: “The ability demonstrated in Essar’s refinery operations coupled with its progressive plans to build a green energy industrial cluster at the Stanlow site contributing to the UK Government’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution make for a compelling and attractive proposition.
